A taste of elegance mixed with the hard-working ruggedness, Royal typewriters have produced a lot of long-lasting machines.  This little prize is no exception.  We started with all of the original parts, and went through the features with a fine-tooth comb, making sure every thing worked as well as the day it was manufactured. 

The drawback band was in good shape and working, but to keep it from wearing we replaced it (the original one will be sold with the machine.)  Also, two springs were loosing some of their pull so we replaced those.  One controlled the ribbon advance automatic reversal, and the other controlled the typing restriction at the end of the margin.  Both of these original springs, like the drawback band, come with the typewriter.

The Platen, as you can see from the pics below, is beginning to dry out, but not to the point where it would be advantageous to resurface it.  Keeping it original, since it hardly affects the useability at this point, lands to its value.
