The word "Modern" is rather ambiguous. On this site, it means anything made after the 50s. The reason we call them 'modern' is because they can't really be classified as antiques. Most of the typewriters I list as modern aren't really modern at all. Every now and then I get one that's practically brand new (made in the past 5 years) but those are garbage. I'd really rather not sell them at all, but I find that some people just can't accept the fact that new is bad. So I keep one or two around. But most of the typewriters you find in this category were made sturdy enough to deserve my time in refurbishing them. I don't like to put time into something that's going to bend and break.
