I actually finished this one almost half a year ago. And then, as I was putting it together, and giving it the final touches, a piece in the carriage broke. Literally broke! When something like this happens, if I don't have a scrap machine to steal from, I have to just sit and wait. And wait, and wait, and wait. Eventually, a 'for parts machine' will appear on ebay, and I jump at the chance. This was originally manufactured in 1942--refurbished in 2021
Royal made millions of their Quiet DeLuxe line. They're light, portable, but more solid than Underwood's and some of Remington's small portables... many of which are literally stamped out of sheet metal.
This particular one has most of the Royal innovations, like Magic Margin (although, on this model, it's only on the right side and not on the left side margin--for the left margin, you have to move the margin setter manually), 2 color ribbon, and key stroke control.
If ordering outside the Cincinnati area, there'll be an added $30 for shipping. If you're local, call me and set up an appointment, and I can give you a full demonstration, along with a crash-course on using manual typewriters.
