Simple, easy to use, built tough and sturdy. This is generally what people want when they're using a typewriter because they've rejected computers... and this works great for that. You turn it on, load your paper (by sight, as opposed to pre-setting margins), and start typing.
At the same time, the SL80 doesn't skimp on features. You CAN get other fonts (larger and smaller), and accordingly you CAN change the character spacing. You can also erase/backspace, and create and change left and right margins.
While the typewriter fits nicely on a desk, it's compact enough to be portable, and the handy-dandy handle makes it easy to transport.
The typewriter was manufactured in 1989.
